Story

The main story follows Kratos and his son Atreus as they travel to the highest peak of the Nine Realms to spread the ashes of Laufey. The story is very engaging and enjoyable and allows you to learn more about this world, the characters grow throughout the story and should lead nicely into the next instalment of the franchise.

Combat

The combat is very engaging and since I haven’t played any of the previous versions, I didn’t know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. The way they used Atreus (boy) in combat was interesting, instead of him being a useless side kick you were able to tell him when to shoot and distract the enemies. There was also a lot of different abilities for each weapon available which kept the combat from becoming repetitive.

The World

Through the story you travel through multiple realms, each of which have different themes and all feel unique. However, I didn’t feel like I was able to fully explore them as the game felt quite linier which I feel hampered the feel of the world.

Visual/Soundtrack

This game looks amazing and through the environment, characters and effects allows you to become fully immersed. With the soundtrack as well adding to the feel, I felt this the most during the introduction as there wasn’t any combat to distract you and you could focus on the sounds of the forest which were amazing.

Difficulty

I chose the middle difficulty when I play, I want to be challenged but I also don’t want to be stuck at a fight for too long. They did a great job in making fights have difficult mechanics so you weren’t able to complete them first time and required a couple of attempts to complete.
